Crossgar Together

Down Community Arts is delighted to see the installation of a new community artwork at Lislea Drive Park, Crossgar.

Developed over the past nine months in partnership with the local retired ladies group The Friday Folk and talented ceramics artist Eleanor Wheeler, this project has been a wonderful example of intergenerational collaboration and community creativity.

The Friday Folk were central to the project’s development, sharing their memories of Crossgar and reflections on village life, which inspired the themes and imagery within the final artwork. Eleanor skillfully brought these stories to life through her ceramic design, resulting in a beautiful and meaningful addition to the park.

We extend our sincere thanks to The Friday Folk for their inspiration and enthusiasm, to Eleanor Wheeler for her creativity and craftsmanship, and to the CCA volunteers for their time and effort in coordinating, creating, and installing the piece.

At DCA, we are proud to support projects that celebrate local identity, connection, and creativity. We look forward to continuing to work with the Crossgar community on future arts initiatives that bring people together through the power of the arts.
