Down Community Arts is delighted to have supported the creation of the new Saul Visitor Map — a community-led project that celebrates local creativity, heritage, and pride of place.
With funding from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland Lottery Fund, and in partnership with the Saul Community Association, we worked alongside local artist Rene Mullin to bring this unique project to life.
Over a series of lino block printing workshops, Rene introduced participants to new creative techniques, supporting them to design and print original artworks inspired by Saul’s landmarks, walking paths, and scenic spots. These beautiful community-made prints were then digitised and incorporated into the final design of the Saul Map — a vibrant, visual guide created by the community for the community.
The project has strengthened connections, built new skills, and instilled a shared sense of pride in Saul’s rich landscape and culture.
We’re proud to have been part of this collaboration and to see local creativity helping shape how visitors experience this special corner of County Down.
